One person has been reported dead following an early morning Friday attack on the Azerbaijan embassy in Tehran, Iran.
Information from the Azerbaijan foreign ministry, apart from the fatality, two people were also wounded as a result of the attack, as the gunmen opened fire at a guard post outside the embassy.
The reason for the attack is yet to be identified, as the attack comes two weeks after Azerbaijan makes its move of securing close diplomatic ties with Israel by appointing its first ambassador to the country.
The Azerbaijan foreign ministry also discloses that the attackers were armed with Kalashnikov rifles.
Tension continues to be on the rise between Azerbaijan and Iran over a deeper relationship with Israel, as Iran accused Israel of establishing a military presence and secret alliance with Azerbaijan.
