A petition with 1,500 signatures asks Walmart to accept Dogecoin payments

A petition with 1,500 signatures asks Walmart to accept Dogecoin payments as Walmart Inc. is looking to hire a cryptocurrency expert, and hoping to join a growing number of businesses looking to create digital currency strategies.

To participate and join the #DOGEARMY in signing the petition click here:  Walmart: Walmart to accept Dogecoin as an online form of payment.

The retailer advertised a position for a digital-currency and cryptocurrency product lead in Bentonville, Ark. According to the job offer, the new worker would be required to “commit to a product roadmap and drive project execution” as well as serve as an authority on the position’s subject area.

The person hired will “identify customer needs and translate them into product requirements,” according to the job description, and will collaborate with product and design teams.

In the retail industry, Walmart (NYSE: WMT) is a big brand with millions of customers across the globe. It has thousands of stores in the United States and many more throughout the world. As a result, the hybrid supermarket and department store retailer controls a sizable portion of the retail sector.

Investors are hoping that a new Walmart cryptocurrency product lead will result in Dogecoin payments.

Walmart is taking a similar strategy to Amazon (NASDAQ: AMZN), In July, Amazon.com Inc. advertised a position for a digital currency expert.

Amazon released a similar job posting last month, asking for its own blockchain specialist as it aims to secure revenue from crypto investors who want to put their holdings to work.

Of course, Dogecoin supporters want Amazon’s platform to accept DOGE payments, and many have taken to social media to petition and advocate for Amazon to embrace the meme coin. With Walmart on crypto investors’ radars and Dogecoin on the rise once more, the same question is being posed to the retailer.

A new petition with almost 1,500 signatures asks Walmart to accept Dogecoin payments for its online shopping platform.

The petition hopes that Walmart will notice Dogecoin’s quickly growing popularity and seize the opportunity to be one of the currency’s first and largest mainstream adopters.
