On Friday, a video of former US president Donald Trump’s sworn testimony in a rape and defamation case against him was made public.
The video shows Trump being questioned about his controversial remarks in the “Access Hollywood” tape that was leaked prior to the 2016 election. Some of the video was shown in court this week.
In the deposition taped in October 2022, Trump claims that his claim that renowned people have been given permission to sexually assault women has been true “historically” and “over the last million years.”
“I guess that’s been largely true. Not always, but largely true. Unfortunately or fortunately,” Trump says under questioning from the lawyer of his accuser E. Jean Carroll.
“And you consider yourself to be a star?” asks the attorney, Roberta Kaplan. “I think you can say that, yeah,” Trump responds.
Trump may be seen mistaking Carroll for his ex-wife Marla Maples in an old shot in the video.
After being corrected by his attorney, Trump remarks that the image is “very blurry.”
Trump repeats his denial that he is unfamiliar with Carroll and states repeatedly, “She’s not my type.”
Press personnel requested the publication of the video, and the judge overseeing the civil trial decided it was up to the parties.
