Tinder is set to introduce a new, exclusive dating app targeting affluent individuals and celebrities, positioning itself to compete with elite dating services like Raya, known for its high-profile user base. This move marks Tinder’s attempt to cater to the growing demand for a more exclusive and discreet dating experience among the rich and famous.
The new app, reportedly named “Tinder Select,” will be an invite-only platform, initially launching in the UK before expanding globally. Designed to attract wealthy entrepreneurs, influencers, and celebrities, the app has already reached out to notable figures like TV presenter Vanessa Feltz and Ted Lasso star Hannah Waddingham, as well as several contestants from Love Island.
A source close to the development revealed, “Tinder is launching a new product specifically for affluent individuals, entrepreneurs, influencers, and celebrities.” The app aims to create a private and exclusive environment for users who prefer connecting with others of similar social standing.
This initiative comes as the dating app market becomes increasingly competitive, with platforms like Raya, known for its rigorous vetting process, setting the standard for exclusivity. Raya, which boasts around 10,000 members and a waiting list exceeding 100,000, has attracted celebrities like Channing Tatum, Harry Styles, and Cara Delevingne.
Tinder Select will allow invited users to toggle between the standard app and this exclusive version, offering a more curated dating experience. Invited users can also extend invitations to friends who meet the platform’s criteria, though those invited cannot further nominate others, maintaining the app’s exclusivity.
The demand for such a private platform among high-net-worth individuals (HNWIs) is significant. Sydney-based concierge Michael Jarosky, who specializes in services for the wealthy, likened Tinder Select to a “first-class cabin” where affluent users can connect with like-minded individuals away from the broader dating pool.
As Tinder ventures into this niche market, it remains to be seen how successful Tinder Select will be in attracting HNWIs and celebrities.
