Sky Mavis has officially launched Axie Pals, an AI-powered Google Chrome extension that revives the nostalgic concept of Tamagotchis, allowing users to care for their Axie NFTs in a virtual pet format with the innovative tool will enables players to interact with their Axies 24/7, making them a constant companion while users engage in other online activities such as work or leisure.
Axie Pals transforms the relationship between players and their Axies by facilitating ongoing interaction rather than just one-time engagements. Jeff Zirlin, co-founder and chief growth officer of Sky Mavis, describes the extension as a way for Axies to accompany users throughout their daily lives, earning AXP (Axie Pals points) and evolving in real-time as they are cared for.
The extension allows users to feed, pet, and even help their Axies sleep, creating a more immersive experience and can keep their Axie on screen while browsing the web or watching videos, providing a sense of companionship akin to classic virtual pets.
To start using Axie Pals, players need to install the extension and sign in with their NFT Axie. The platform encourages engagement through two methods of earning AXP: passive rewards for simply keeping the Axie on-screen and active rewards for specific interactions like feeding or playing with the Axie.
The initial response from the Axie community has been largely positive. Content creator EmpressRaeon shared his enthusiasm on social media, noting that his Axie resembles a childhood pet and enjoys accompanying him online.
However, some users have expressed a desire for additional functionalities, such as customizable widgets or integration with other apps like ChatGPT or Spotify.
Zirlin acknowledged these suggestions, indicating that further features are in development as the team continues to explore new product ideas.
In addition to the launch of Axie Pals, recent statistics show a 53.27% increase in Unique Active Wallets (UAW) interacting with Axie Infinity over the past three months, reaching 87,270 wallets according to DappRadar data. This uptick suggests growing interest and engagement within the platform.
Sky Mavis is collaborating with Kindred AI to enhance Axie Pals with more complex emotions and behaviors in future updates. These enhancements aim to deepen the interaction between players and their digital companions, potentially transforming Axies into more dynamic personal assistants.
