Tech billionaire, Elon Musk, has revealed his plans to develop an AI platform called TruthGPT that he claims will be a “maximum truth-seeking AI.”
During an interview with Tucker Carlson, Musk explained that TruthGPT is designed to understand the nature of the universe, saying, “It might be the best path to safety, in the sense that an AI that cares about understanding the universe is unlikely to annihilate humans because we are an interesting part of the universe.”
Musk’s recent move into the AI market came shortly after the launch of OpenAI’s ChatGPT in November. The chatbot, which uses a powerful AI engine, has the ability to write software, hold conversations and even compose poetry. In response, Musk reportedly created an AI company called X.AI, based in Nevada, which has been tasked with developing an alternative to ChatGPT.
Musk’s concerns about the potential dangers of AI are long-standing. During the interview, he reiterated his worries about the destructive power of artificial intelligence and its potential for civilizational destruction. However, Musk sees TruthGPT as a potential solution to these dangers, stating that an AI that seeks to understand the universe is unlikely to pose a threat to humanity.
While TruthGPT is still in development, it will be interesting to see how it compares to other AI platforms currently on the market, such as ChatGPT and Google’s Bard.
