The Russian National Team has been suspended from participating in international football till further notice following allegations submitted by the national football team to kick them out of participating in the international competition.
According to a statement released today, the two most respected football bodies UEFA/FIFA had decided to kick the Russian national team out of participating in the World Cup which is slated for the last quarter of the year.
According to information released today which read so “Following the initial decision adopted by the FIFA and the UEFA Executive Committee, which envisaged the adoption of additional measures, FIFA and UEFA have today decided together that all Russian teams, whether national representative teams or club teams, shall be suspended from participating in both FIFA and UEFA competitions until further notice.”
“These decisions were adopted today by the Bureau of the FIFA Council and the Executive Committee of UEFA, respectively the highest decision-making bodies of both institutions on such urgent matters. Football is fully united here and in full solidarity with all the people affected in Ukraine.
Both Presidents hope that the situation in Ukraine will improve significantly and rapidly so that football can again be a vector for unity and peace amongst people.” Read FIFA/UEFA media.
The decision to bar Russian clubs and national teams at the moment came after FIFA was criticized for not going far enough to punish Russia for invading Ukraine.
The decision to eject Russia from participating in the world cup was first moved by the Poland national team after they refused to play against them in the qualifying match of the World Cup.
They were later supported by Sweden and others, a decision which makes FIFA first announce a change in Russia’s national team, and also to suspend their national anthem, but this action didn’t go well with supporters of football, as they called for total suspension of their team.
With the recent announcement made by FIFA and UEFA, the Russians won’t participate in this year’s male World Cup, and also the female UEFA competitions, and the likes.
