The Blues on Wednesday night was put a dent on their title hope with a dramatic draw at the Bridge on their last game of the year with a late equalizer from Danny Welbeck.

The Blues continued with their struggle for form in the festive month with another stalemate on their end of the year match bringing to them, a third draw in December and sixth in the league.

Chelsea was handed a boost in the early minutes of the match with Romelu Lukaku second successive goals assisted by Mount from the corner spot, but their joy was struck deep with a late equalizer goal from Welbeck who headed past Mendy to steal a point for the visitor.

Reece James was forced out of the game with a hamstring injury adding to the already stricken injured team. Injured James was the second Chelsea player to be forced out of the Blue successive matches following the path of Thiago Silva who suffered an injury on boxing day.

The draw put them eight points behind league leader Man city who continued with their impressive display with a 1-0 victory against Brentford. Chelsea headed into the New year with a game against Liverpool on the second of January.
