Ekiti State Governor, Dr. Kayode Fayemi today officially declared his intention public to contest for the top echelon presidential position under the umbrella of the ruling party APC.
In his live broadcast, he throws a hat of salutations to every well-meaning Nigerian and compatriot who continued to clamor for an effective leader who can bring our country Nigeria back on the right track, a request which compelled him to took the drastic decisions after a lot of consultations.
“Dear compatriots; it’s in the spirit of this abiding fate in our country and its promise of unfinished greatness, that I stand before you today in total humility and all sense of responsibility to solemnly declare to all within our party and Nigeria at large, to accept my decision and name to be put forward for consideration by the All Progressive Congress (APC) leadership and membership as our party’s standard-bearer in the upcoming contest for a successor to our leader President Muhammadu Buhari.”
According to him “I carried out a long and deep self-introspection with the help of my wife, family members, friends, political associates, and professional colleagues, and also traversed the length and breadth of our country to consult and explore with esteemed Elder Statemen and women, traditional rulers, a cross-section of party leaders and rank and ordinary members of our great party, and various non-partisan leaders of thought and opinions. I embarked on this outage visit without, neither with any prior assumption about what they will yield nor with any sense of personal entitlement.”
“After a long of careful consideration of where we are as a nation and the many perspectives which are emerging about the challenges all the needs which must be tackled and transcend convince me to enter into the presidential contest.” he added
The outgoing Ekiti Governor has joined the host of former Gov of Lagos, Asiwaju Tinubu, Vice President Osinbajo, Rt Hon Rotimi Amaechi, and others to battle for the presidential ticket in the coming days in their upcoming Primary election.
