The US Secretary of State Antony Blinken has condemned both Russia and North Korea over their recent military cooperation which will see both nations come in defense of each other against external threats.
Blinken expressed worry over deepening ties between President Putin and Kim Jong Un during a telephone conversation with the SouKoreanrea FM Cho Tae-yul on Friday.
He described the military alliance between Russia and North Korea as a violation of multiple UN Security Council resolutions.
Blinken reaffirmed the commitment to South Korea for its role in fostering peace and maintaining closer ties with the West.
He appreciated South Korea’s unwavering support to Ukraine, saying the United States will work closely to address the evolving security threat posed by North Korea in recent years.
President Putin on Tuesday visited North Korea, a visit condemned by Western leaders after both countries signed a military alliance to aid each other in terms of external aggression.
