Millions Displaced as Powerful Typhoon Shanshan Hits Japan
Millions of residents in southwest Japan were ordered to evacuate their homes as Typhoon Shanshan struck on Thursday, bringing powerful winds and torrential rain. The storm caused widespread power outages, disrupted air travel, and led to the closure of major factories across the region.
Casualties and Destruction as Shanshan Threatens to Break Records
So far, at least three people have lost their lives, and scores have been injured in what could be one of the most severe storms to ever hit the region. With gusts reaching 180 km/h (112 mph), strong enough to topple moving trucks, the typhoon was last reported near Unzen city in Nagasaki, raising alarms for further devastation.
