The Afghanistan-led Taliban government has expressed willingness to discuss military support with Iran against Israel over its ongoing military operation in occupied Gaza.
Amid intense shelling in Gaza, Iranian Interim Foreign Minister Ali Bagheri Kani and the Taliban Foreign Minister Amir Khan Muttaqi called upon the Muslim World to put pressure on Israel.
This was disclosed in a telephone conversation between the two diplomats as reported by the media outlet affiliated with the IRGC.
The Taliban government has readied thousands of troops to fight Israel in Gaza as confirmed by a senior Hezbollah official.
While both Iran and the Taliban had differences in the past, both have worked relatively together to overthrow the Afghan government and expel the US troops from Afghanistan.
Bilateral relations between the Taliban and the Iranian government have increased, with Tehran meeting with the Taliban representatives at the sideline of President Ebrahim Raisi’s funeral in late May.
During the Taliban delegate’s visit to Iran, they met with the Hamas representatives expressing total support against Israel’s occupation of Gaza.
