Spain Prime Minister Pedro Sánchez has declared that recognition of the State of Palestine is essential for everlasting peace in the Middle East amid rising tension with Israel.
The Spanish PM added that it’s imperative for other countries of the world to officially recognize Palestine as an entity on its own for a peaceful coexistence in the Middle East region.
Sanchez speaking at the Moncloa Palace on Tuesday said Spain will officially recognize the State of Palestine.
He added, “The recognition of the State of Palestine is not only a matter of historical justice, but we are all aiming at establishing peace.”
Both Ireland, Norway, and Spain will officially recognize the State of Palestine today, a decision which has led to diplomatic fallout with Israel.
Israel has recalled its ambassadors to the countries accusing them of anti-Israel stance and called for strict measures on them for their antisemitism.
Spain, Ireland, and Norway have condemned Israel’s activities in Rafah describing it as a crime against humanity.
