Nobel laureate and elder statesman, Professor Wole Soyinka has asked the Federal Government of Nigeria to apply caution with allegations made against former minister of power Dr. Olu Aguloye by the EFCC.
The EFCC is alleging that Dr Aguloye received a total of N5.2 million from Sunrise Power Transmission Company as a bribe for the Mambilla hydro project. Professor Wole Soyinka has times without a number called on the Nigeria Federal Government to apply caution and not be misled.
The Mambilla Hydro project was issued on a build operate and transfer basis and to date not a penny has been paid by FGN to Sunrise. The alleged bribe was a gift from Sunrise to Dr Agunloye 15 years after he left the office for medical and travel expenses.
There is no rationale in alleging that N5.2 million was issued for a $6 billion contract 15 years after leaving office.
