Dermot Mulroney is joining Chicago Fire as Chief Dom Pascal, stepping in for Eamonn Walker’s Chief Wallace Boden, who exited in the Season 12 finale. While Walker may return as Boden, who is now the CFD’s Deputy Commissioner, Mulroney’s character will take charge at Firehouse 51.
Miranda Rae Mayo, who plays Lieutenant Stella Kidd, shared that Pascal “bristles” with her character, and their first on-screen encounter will be “a bit of a firework show.” She described Pascal as confident, no-nonsense, and tough to read, hinting that his presence could disrupt the pride in the firehouse.
Mulroney’s character was first announced in July, with Pascal’s backstory revealing that he spent the last decade as a chief in Miami. Known for his calm demeanor under pressure, Pascal’s leadership style differs from Boden’s, and he’s also estranged from his wife. His introduction promises to bring tension to Firehouse 51, which will be adjusting to multiple cast changes.
Chicago Fire is entering its 13th season, with new additions like Jocelyn Hudon, who was promoted to series regular as paramedic Lizzie Novak, and Michael Bradway, playing firefighter Jack Damon, who was revealed to be Kelly Severide’s second half-sibling. With Chief Pascal’s arrival and other shake-ups, fans can expect plenty of drama when the show returns on Wednesday, Sept. 25 at 9 p.m. ET on NBC.
