Israel Defense Minister Yoav Gallant on Sunday visited the United States as the country Minister sought to discuss the war in Gaza and also the hostility between Israel and Lebanon.
There has been increasing tension in the region over a possible escalation between the Israel army and the militant group Hezbollah located in Lebanon.
Hezbollah has continued to launch attacks on Israeli territory in solidarity with Gaza, with the group promising a continuous attack on Israel until a ceasefire is achieved in Gaza.
Gallant who prepared to meet with US Defense Minister and Secretary of State Antony Blinken said, they’re prepared for a possible escalation in Lebanon, Gaza, and other areas.
There has been global concern about possible escalation of the war into Lebanon with UN Chief Antonio Guterres saying, the world can’t afford to see another Gaza in Lebanon.
Escalation between Israel and Lebanon intensified after the IDF strike and killed a top Hezbollah commander which the group has reacted with multiple drone attacks into Israel.
Currently, a US envoy Amos Hochstein visited both Israel and Lebanon in a bid to end escalation between the two countries as they increase cross-border fire.
Gallant has alluded to their new phase of operation in Gaza to be directed towards Hezbollah as he said, he will discuss the new transition with US officials as they continue to seek support from the US government.
