French researcher Laurent Vinatier, accused of spying, will begin its trial on Tuesday after he was accused of collecting information on the Russian military and military-technical activities.
Vinatier was arrested in June for his failure to register as a foreign agent, saying he was unaware of the legal binding of its registration.
The French researcher is reported to be an active member in the mediation efforts to see the end of the conflict between Russia and Ukraine as he’s vast in the history and also a specialist of the defunct USSR.
Vinatier’s arrest has furthered the collapse of the bridge of unity between Moscow and Paris, which has already increased since the invasion of Ukraine by Russia in 2022.
