As tickets for Coldplay’s highly anticipated return to India went live on September 22, the BookMyShow website crashed, sparking a wave of memes online. The British band, set to perform on January 18 and 19, 2024, at Mumbai’s DY Patil Stadium, is returning to the country after a nine-year break, and fans were eager to secure tickets.
Ticket prices ranged from ₹2,500 to ₹12,500, with up to eight tickets available per purchase. This is the only general sale for the concert, though Coldplay will also release “Infinity Tickets” on November 22, 2024, priced at €20 (approximately ₹2,000) for a more affordable option. These tickets must be bought in pairs and will only be available in specific locations.
The rush for tickets caused an internet frenzy, with over 500,000 searches for BookMyShow. Interest in the site surged dramatically from early morning, peaking around noon as fans scrambled for access.
