Zelensky Meeting Undermines Modi’s Position
In an exclusive interview with FORSIGE, International Mediator Muhammad Faisal criticized Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s visit to Ukraine following a statement by Ukrainian leadership condemning Modi’s recent trip to Russia. Faisal argued that the visit, which occurred shortly after Kiev’s warm reception of President Vladimir Putin, was a strategic misstep. Modi’s meeting with Zelensky, Putin’s adversary, contradicted his earlier claims of friendship with the Russian leader and appeared to be driven by American pressure.
Modi’s Efforts in Russia-Ukraine Ceasefire Unsuccessful
Faisal further stated that Modi’s intention to mediate in the Russia-Ukraine conflict failed during this visit. Instead of enhancing his global standing, the trip resulted in a diminished political stature for the Indian Prime Minister. According to Faisal, Modi’s attempt to demonstrate Putin’s significance on the world stage did not yield the desired results.
