Erling Haaland’s relentless goal-scoring form continues to dominate the Premier League, as the Norwegian striker netted his second consecutive hat-trick against West Ham United on Saturday. The 24-year-old Manchester City star showcased his prowess once again, taking his tally to seven goals in just three league matches this season.
Haaland’s latest hat-trick, his 11th for Manchester City, further solidified the team’s flawless start to their title defense. His first goal was a clinical finish past West Ham goalkeeper Alphonse Areola, following a precise through ball from Bernardo Silva. The second was a powerful strike from close range that nearly tore through the net. Haaland completed his hat-trick with a blistering run towards goal, leaving no doubt about the outcome as he effortlessly slotted the ball home.
City manager Pep Guardiola, impressed by Haaland’s unstoppable performance, praised the striker’s ability to find the back of the net even in the most challenging situations. “The first goal, Bernardo wins the ball, passes it, and Erling finishes. The third goal, with the space behind, he’s unstoppable,” Guardiola said. “There is no central defender, not even with a gun—it’s impossible to stop him. He’s so fast, so powerful.”
Reflecting on Haaland’s progress, Guardiola noted that despite dealing with minor injuries last season, Haaland still finished as the league’s top scorer with 27 goals. Now, with improved fitness, Guardiola believes Haaland has become even more formidable.
Haaland, who reached his 70th Premier League goal in just his 69th game, credited his recent rest for his renewed energy. “I feel good, I feel energized,” he told Sky Sports. “I had a long vacation and pre-season. The years I’ve been here have been really fast. Now I’ve got some rest in my body and my feet. I’m ready for more.”
Haaland’s hat-trick played a crucial role in maintaining Manchester City’s perfect start to the season, as they secured victories in all three of their opening matches. The reigning champions currently sit at the top of the table, with Arsenal dropping points earlier on Saturday.
