During a rally in Wisconsin, Donald Trump made a bizarre comment while criticizing the Biden administration’s border policy. The former president took aim at the use of technology to assist migrants entering the country, saying, “They have a phone app so the people can come into our country.”
He went on to claim, “These are smart immigrants, I guess, because most people don’t have any idea what the hell a phone app is.”
Trump’s remarks quickly drew ridicule online, with many pointing out the ubiquity of smartphone apps. His rally also came shortly after Vice President Kamala Harris visited the US-Mexico border for the first time during her presidential campaign. Trump criticized Harris and President Joe Biden for their handling of immigration, accusing them of allowing dangerous individuals into the country.
“There’s no greater act of disloyalty than to extinguish the sovereignty of your own nation through your border, no matter what lies she tells,” Trump said, blaming Harris for what he described as the “erasing” of the border. He also insulted the vice president, calling her “mentally disabled” and warning against her ever becoming president.
