Chairman of the Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP), Bilawal Bhutto Zardari, stated that the current government stands on the votes of PPP, and the party will send its delegation to the government’s All Parties Conference (APC) on Operation Azm-e-Istahkam.
Speaking at a press conference at the Governor House in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Bilawal Bhutto emphasized that the PPP has always practiced positive politics and does not believe in abusive politics. He highlighted that the public trusts their representatives because of their commitment to resolving issues.
Bilawal Bhutto noted that there is a prevailing trend of politics driven by hatred and ego in Pakistan, particularly in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, where abusive politics is rampant. He stressed the need to counter non-political and undemocratic practices with strong political traditions.
He mentioned that the PPP is actively organizing in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and plans to counter the politics of hatred with positive politics, expressing confidence that this approach will ultimately prevail.
Bilawal Bhutto acknowledged the unprecedented confluence of issues, including economic crisis, inflation, unemployment, and poverty, affecting every Pakistani. He highlighted the deteriorating conditions and warned that politicians must address these problems to avoid public backlash.
He also pointed out that the country faces both economic and security challenges. He praised the bravery of the armed forces in defeating terrorists, contrasting their success with the failures of neighboring countries’ militaries.
Bilawal Bhutto lamented that terrorist organizations are resurging from Khyber Pakhtunkhwa to Balochistan due to the previous government’s actions. He noted the government’s decision to convene an APC regarding the operation and affirmed that the PPP will send a delegation to present their suggestions and concerns. He stressed the importance of consultation for positive outcomes.
He recognized the sacrifices of security agencies in all four provinces and emphasized the need to rectify past mistakes. Bilawal also mentioned the Prime Minister’s assurance of involving the PPP in PSDP decisions and addressing their issues.
Regarding Afghanistan, Bilawal Bhutto stated that visits alone cannot solve Pakistan’s problems. He noted his efforts to bring China, Pakistan, and Afghanistan to the negotiating table but acknowledged that the solutions to Afghanistan’s issues lie with its government.
Bilawal emphasized that PPP did not raise Sindh’s issues in the budget discussions, as they were addressed by the Chief Minister. Instead, they focused on the problems of the other three provinces.
He clarified that his promise of 300 free electricity units was conditional on becoming the Prime Minister. In Sindh, the PPP has arranged free solar power for the poor.
Bilawal concluded that many economic and security issues remain unresolved. He acknowledged the efforts of the President and Prime Minister in combating terrorism but criticized the relocation of terrorists to merged districts as counterproductive. He affirmed the PPP support for the government without seeking ministerial positions and stressed the need to address both security and economic instability to resolve these challenges.
