Chidimma Vanessa Adetshina has been crowned Miss Universe Nigeria 2024, marking a significant milestone in her pageantry career. The announcement comes after she previously withdrew from the Miss South Africa contest due to scrutiny over her nationality.
Adetshina, who has Nigerian and Mozambican heritage, announced her participation in the Miss Universe Nigeria pageant in a video shared on social media. She expressed her excitement about the opportunity and her commitment to representing Nigeria on an international stage. “I am looking forward to participating in Africa’s most prestigious beauty pageant,” she stated.
Before her success in Nigeria, Adetshina was a Top 11 finalist in the Miss South Africa 2024 contest. However, she stepped down amid allegations from the South African Department of Home Affairs regarding potential fraud and identity theft involving her mother’s nationality. This controversy led to her decision to focus on competing for the Miss Universe Nigeria title instead.
