Chelsea Football Club officially announced the signing of 18-year-old forward Omari Kellyman from Aston Villa, finalizing a six-year contract on Saturday.
Reports from British media suggest that the transfer agreement between the two Premier League clubs is estimated to be worth about £19 million ($24.02 million).
Kellyman, who has already made six appearances for Aston Villa’s senior team, initially joined their youth academy following his move from Derby County in 2022. Notably, he is also a youth international for England, showcasing his talent on the international stage at a young age.
Aston Villa completed the signing of Dutch defender Ian Maatsen from Chelsea for a reported fee of around £40 million on Friday. The 22-year-old, who spent last season on loan at Borussia Dortmund, joins Villa as they bolster their defensive options.
Kellyman expressed his excitement about joining Chelsea, highlighting the club’s illustrious history. “It’s a massive club with an amazing history, so it is great to join… I want to be successful in the Chelsea shirt, win games, and hopefully lift trophies,” he said on the club’s website. Looking ahead, he added, “(Overtime) hopefully, I can become one of the faces on the side of the stadium. I want to become a big player for this club.
