The British Ministry of Defence stated on Sunday that a claim made by Yemen’s Houthis about firing ballistic missiles at a British destroyer in the Red Sea was false.
The Houthis did not specify any damage resulting from the alleged attack on the HMS Diamond but referred to it as “accurate.”
The Houthis claimed to have targeted two commercial vessels, which they named the Norderney and Tavvishi.
The statement confirmed that both the Tavvishi, located in the Arabian Sea and the Norderney were hit, resulting in a fire on the Norderney.
The Houthi militia, governing the most densely populated regions of Yemen, has been carrying out attacks on vessels in the vicinity of the country since November in solidarity with Palestinians in Gaza.
