U.S. President Biden on Tuesday refuted allegations levied against Israel Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu of playing politics with the war in Gaza.
Biden when asked about the situation in Gaza said the Israeli Prime Minister is trying to work out a serious problem he’s currently facing.
The U.S. President’s statement came barely hours after a media report accused Israel’s PM Benjamin Netanyahu was drawing out the conflict for his political benefit.
“I’m not going to comment on that
There is every reason for people to draw that conclusion”, Biden said.
Biden noted that before Israel’s war with Hamas began in October, the prime minister was facing criticism for pushing judicial reforms that would reduce checks and balances.
“And so, it’s an internal domestic debate that seems to have no consequence,” the president told Time. “And whether he would change his position or not, it’s hard to say, but it has not been helpful.”
Israel since its operation in Gaza has been criticized globally over handling of the war against Hamas which had led to the death of over 35,000 Palestinians.
