On Wednesday, Russia declared that it would make an effort to recover the remains of an American drone that had crashed into the Black Sea.
On Tuesday, a massive MQ-9 Reaper drone fell into the ocean.
The US claimed that the damaged drone was brought down because a Russian plane clipped its propeller, rendering it “unflyable.” Moscow has refuted these accusations.
Russian Security Council Secretary Nikolai Patrushev acknowledged Moscow was looking for the aircraft while speaking on state television.
“Whether we can rescue it or not is uncertain, but it must be done. We will undoubtedly work on that “said Mr. Patrushev.
Top Washington official John Kirby stated that although the US desired to find the aircraft as well, they would be severely limited in their capacity to do so if Russia found it first.
He also said that because it fell in “extremely deep water,” there were logistical difficulties when speaking in Good Morning America program on ABC America TV
According to US military officials, the incident took place on Tuesday morning, and the altercation lasted between 30 and 40 minutes.
