On 05 January the Kitale court in Nairobi Kenya sentenced a 24-year-old man to 90 years in prison for the rape and murder of a 74-year-old Swedish national two years ago.
A 23-year-old man who was found guilty of raping and killing a Swedish missionary has been sentenced to 90 years in prison.
The suspect Chris wanjala was found guilty of killing the victim in February 2020 while his accomplice Dominic Nyongesa was also found guilty of the same offense pending age assessment. Nyongesa argued before the court that he was underage at the time of the offense, therefore the ruling was postponed until January 9, once his rightful age was verified.
The suspect has 14 days to appeal the sentence.
The victim was working as a missionary at the time of her death.
