President Emmanuel Macron of France is set to unveil the country’s vision in terms of military spending, taking into account the ongoing war in Ukraine and rising insecurity across the globe.
The French President as part of his military spending is dedicated to modernizing the military, with newly improved nuclear arms.
Also, the country’s military budget is expected to be above 2% of its GDP, as stipulated as part of NATO expectations for member states.
Emmanuel Macron will present the outlines of a future military spending plan for 2024-2030 meant to take into account the consequences of the war in Ukraine.
France also will be looking to boost its spending on military defense in coming years as they look to reinforce and standardize its domestic security, and also their ability to operate and compete abroad.
The President’s speech comes as defense officials of NATO meet in Germany to discuss the situation in Ukraine.
