Nigerian singer, Divine Ikubor, popularly known as Rema, has made history by entering the Guinness World Book of Records. The talented musician achieved this feat with his global hit song ‘Calm Down’, which became the First No.1 Hit on The Official MENA Chart (the world’s first regional streaming chart).
In recognition of this historic achievement, Guinness World Record released a statement on its website, acknowledging Rema’s milestone. The statement highlighted that Rema had secured the first-ever number 1 hit on the MENA Chart, which is also the first-ever official chart in the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) region.
Rema’s ‘Calm Down’ debuted at the top spot when the MENA Chart was launched by the International Federation of the Phonographic Industry (IFPI) on November 29, 2022. The song continued to reign supreme on the chart for over two months, cementing its status as a global hit.
With this recognition, Rema now joins the likes of Femi Kuti and Wizkid as Nigerian musicians who have earned a place in the Guinness World Record.
