Indian business mogul, Gautam Adani of the Adani Conglomerate has become the newest and first person from Asia to be ranked the number 3 world richest man according to the top three Bloomberg Billionaires Index.

Adani climbed up to the third position overtaking French billionaire Bernard Arnault of the L&V goods, topping Adani in the billionaire index are Tesla CEO Elon Musk (worth $251 billion) and Amazon founder Jeff Bezos (worth $153 billion) on the list.

Adani got to his peak in the early year of 2022, Adani’s worth has doubled increasingly this year, and he’s the only billionaire whose net worth didn’t drop among the top 10 richest in the world.

Adani hit his first billionaire milestone in 2008, and since then, he has continued to work tirelessly to achieve the feat in which he’s at present, Adani conglomerate controls the largest private sector coal miner, ports, city gas distributor, and airports in India.

Adani’s wealth was not only restricted to India, but his influence extend far wide to Europe.

His success this year alone has made him surpass Ambani, his fellow countrymen as the wealthiest man in Asia in February, surpassed former world richest man Bill Gates in July to become the fourth richest man, before ousting the French billionaire to clinch the third position.

How hard Adani whose current fortune stands at $137 billion can overtake Jeff Bezos whom he is trailing behind by $16 billion would be a hot race to surface.

Adani has come a long way since dropping out of Gujarat University in his second year to become a diamond sorter. He is the founder of the Adani Group, which has a diverse portfolio of businesses in industries such as ports, coal, and energy.

Adani became a billionaire for the first time in 2008, 20 years after establishing his commodities export company. And has been embroiled in a bitter feud with Mukesh Ambani, India’s second richest man, since this year.

It remains to be seen whether the tycoon can maintain his third-place ranking. Analysts are concerned about the amount of debt his company has accumulated during its expansion.
