US troops will assist the building of training facilities, warehouses, and other facilities at 3 bases in the island nations as Washington seeks to address security challenges amid widening Chinese influence in the region.
The move comes before VP Kamala Harris’ planned visit to Palawan – an island China claims almost entirely. It will make her the highest-ranking US official ever to visit the island, with talks about security alliances and economic ties slated.
“This visit demonstrates the Biden–Harris administration’s commitment to stand with our Philippine ally in upholding the rules-based international maritime order,” a White House Official said.
US wanted to turn countries neighbouring China in to an anti-China block but most countries in the region have refused due to fear of causing instabilities and anger China.
Philippines is a very important country for the US incase it wants to involve its self in a war with China over Taiwan, a province China considers as its territory.
China has vowed to unite with Taiwan whether forcefully by the use of military or peacefully through negotiations with the island and has vowed to fully oppose any external interfere in what it calls” internal affairs”.

US which together with its allies have of recently increased their support to the island and they have declared their opposition to China using military means to take the island. US is also using Taiwan to contain China into the first island chain but unfortunately China has already broken out to second island chain.
