The southern Indian state of Karnataka, which holds elections on Wednesday, has seen intense campaigning by the leaders of the country’s major political parties.
In order to ensure that his Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) maintains power in the state, Prime Minister Narendra Modi has been on an election campaign blitzkrieg, speaking at 30-35 public events in only ten days.
Mallikarjun Kharge, the president of the main opposition Congress Party, and the Gandhi family have been touring the state and speaking at dozens of rallies and meetings.
