Chinese Communist Party Spokesman on Saturday said the government of China reserves the right to use force to compel Taiwan to bow, should a peaceful reunification which is the priority fail.
Sun Yeli in a televised news conference in Beijing on Saturday said, the reunification of China with the island of Taiwan is in the best interest of the majority, which includes also, the well-meaning patriots of Taiwan.
According to Sun, Taiwan remains a part and parcel of China, and Beijing would do anything possible to reintegrate Taiwan back into China peacefully.
He also noted that any attempt by Taiwan to force a movement of independence for the Island by some individuals backed by foreign influence would not be treated with levity as China would respond in the harshest means.
Issues relating to the sovereignty of the Island have been a major dispute globally between China who claimed Taiwan Island as part of its territory, while the government of the self-ruling Island backed by the U.S said, the over 20 million people living on the Island should be allowed to decide its future by themselves.
The relationship between China and Taiwan has severed drastically since President Tsai Ing-Wen who claimed herself as a separatist was elected, and Beijing has heightened pressure in claiming the island as its own.
Though the U.S closely maintained diplomatic relations with Taiwan, and engaged in arms deal with the island, but yet havenโt declared the Island a self-ruling country on its own due to its relationship with China in the global sphere.
Sun said, โwe believe that the Chinese and American people have the wisdom, the opportunity, and capability to find a way for peaceful coexistence, but China will not allow others to bully it and the historic process of Chinaโs national rejuvenation cannot be held back by anyone or any force.โ
