Mauricio Garcia, 33, has been identified as the highly armed shooter who killed eight people, including children, at a Dallas retail mall.
A police officer responding to a different complaint in the neighborhood shot and killed the assailant, a Dallas resident.
The shooting spree was referred to as “the latest act of gun violence to devastating our nation” by Vice President Biden.
According to investigators cited by US media, Garcia may have had affiliations to the far right as evidenced by a clothing patch he wore.
His battle gear included a patch with the letters RWDS, which stand for “Right Wing Death Squad” and are thought to be those of a neo-Nazi organization. He also used an AR-15-style rifle, according to individuals who spoke to CBS News.
