Elon Musk met with House Speaker Kevin McCarthy and Democratic leader Hakeem Jeffries at the US Capitol in Washington on Thursday to discuss fairness on Twitter.
According to sources, Jeffries also received a law enforcement briefing regarding Capitol Hill preparations in case of protests after the expected release of video from the arrest of Tyre Nichols.
Musk then had a separate meeting with McCarthy, and a brief interaction with Jeffries, where the subject of Twitter was discussed but no details were provided.
The meeting also occurred as the House Oversight Committee is planning a hearing next month on Twitter’s handling of the Hunter Biden laptop story.
Musk has met with two senior White House officials to discuss electric vehicles and shared goals around electrification.
The meeting between Musk and congressional leaders comes amid a political shift in Washington with Republicans controlling the House and electing McCarthy as speaker.
