World richest man Elon Musk has been the subject of online criticism following his tweet about a peace deal between Russia and Ukraine, as he said, the inability for peace between the two warring parties might be devastating with no happy ending.
Following the annexation of some regions by Russia in Ukraine, Elon Musk suggested a peace truce between Kyiv and Moscow, saying the mass mobilization of Russians into the forces might lead to unending conflict.
His tweet goes thus;
“Elon Musk @elonmusk.
“Russia is doing partial mobilization. They go to full war mobilization if Crimea is at risk. Death on both sides will be devastating.
Russia has >3 times the population of Ukraine, so victory for Ukraine is unlikely in total war. If you care about the people of Ukraine, seek peace.”
According to Elon Musk, an attempt by Ukraine to take back Crimea would lead to disastrous outcomes, and Ukraine is at risk of losing the war owing to its due disadvantages against Russia in the size of its population which the latter has over 3× the former.
His other tweets also say
Elon Musk @elonmusk
“This is highly likely to be the outcome in the end just a question of how many die before then.”
Elon Musk @elonmusk
“Also worth noting that a possible, albeit unlikely, outcome from this conflict is nuclear war.”
Elon Musk said the need for unnecessary death should be avoided at all costs, and any ability to press further might lead to nuclear war among countries.
Following his tweets, many Twitter users slammed the world’s richest man for his two faces in the ongoing war, while some had failed to appreciate his past contribution to the war, some agreed to the peace deal proposed by Elon Musk.
A Twitter account user replying to Elon Musk tweeted thus;
NEXT @nexta_tv.
“So Russia is going to win because its population is larger? Never heard of the Vietnam War or the Soviet invasion of Afghanistan?”
Anastasiia tweeted
Anastasiia Alekseienko @l.
“If you care about the people of Ukraine (and the whole other world), help Ukraine to win. Because Europe is next if Russia wins.”
Maксим @kms_d4k.
“As a Ukrainian warrior, I can’t discos about geopolitics, but I can say: we keep fighting until every Russian invader dies. It’s our peace case.”
Paul Massaro @apmassaro3.
“The fastest way to end the war with the fewest deaths is to support Ukrainian victory. If you care about the people of Ukraine, get them the weapons they are asking for and seriously sanction Russia.”
Paul Massaro @apmassaro3
“@elonmusk if you seriously want to save lives and support Ukrainian victory, @BackAndAlive & @serhiyprytula are taking donations to get much-needed equipment to the armed forces.”
Reacting to his critics, Elon Musk brought his statistics of help he had rendered to the people of Ukraine through his Starlink.
Jumping into the support of Elon Musk, a tweeter account user by name of David Sacks @DavidSacks condemned the approach of the majority of the criticizer saying,
“The fact that @elonmusk could be attacked as “pro-Russian” merely for suggesting a possible peace deal even though he gave Starlink to the Ukrainian war effort – – shows how warped and intolerant the public conversation has become.
The vast majority of the woke mob attacking him haven’t contributed anything to the Ukrainian war effort except a blue & yellow emoji.”
Doctor Billy @Bilyamin_Dakat reacting to the online critics wrote,
“A few months ago, @elonmusk donated Starlink to Ukraine and he was praised as a hero. Today he’s calling for peace and all of a sudden he’s the bad guy/ Putin apologist/Russian agent. What an interesting world we live in.”
Martin Bäumle @Martin_Baeu.. tweeted
“Dear Elon, you are mostly right. We need a fair and quick solution. You helped Ukraine with digital support. Sol hope, we could prevent negative development. But also Putin has to accept a compromise. Let’s talk and stop the war. Best Martin Bäumle, member of Swiss Parliament.”
In an online poll conducted by Elon Musk where he said, the will of the people living in Donbas and Crimea should decide whether they should be part of Russia or Ukraine stands at 58% in support while 42% are against it.
While the poll conducted on whether Ukraine should remain neutral stands at 39% in support while 61% are against the decision.
Despite the public outcry, Elon Musk remains of the view of a peace deal as the best possible solution to avert a nuclear war.
