The Presidencyโs confirmation of Chief Timipre Sylvaโs resignation on Friday put an end to the issue surrounding the rumored resignation of the Minister of State for Petroleum Resources.
This was announced by Bashir Ahmad, the Special Assistant to the President for Digital Media, via his verified Twitter account. He claimed Sylva left to pursue his desire to become governor.
Timipre Sylva, a former governor of Bayelsa State and the minister of state for petroleum resources, resigned from his position in order to run in the upcoming election for governor of that state, Ahmad tweeted.
When senior officials of the Federal Ministry of Petroleum Resources declined to clarify whether or not their boss had quit, it was reported on Friday that there was controversy surrounding Sylvaโs resignation.
