Yakubu Sanda, the Speaker of the Plateau State House of Assembly, and Daniel Nanlong, the Majority Leader, both members of the All Progressives Congress, have lost their seats to candidates from the Peoples Democratic Party.
In the March 18 House of Assembly election, Sanda, who represents Pengana State Constituency, lost to Happiness Akawu of the PDP.
Happiness is the spouse of the late Mathew Akawu, the initial PDP candidate, who passed away following the party’s primary and was succeeded by his wife.
Akawu received 9,926 votes, beating Sanda’s 7,936 votes, according to the Pengana Constituency Returning Officer, Prof. Sati Chanle, who made the announcement of the outcome.
