Sierra Leone under President Julius Maada Bio passes a bill aimed to reserve 30% of jobs for women in both public and private entities.
The country passes the law on Thursday proposing to recruit women in both private and public sectors to dissuade gender imbalances and discrimination.
Human Rights reported that women in Sierra leone experience gender discrimination and most of the women who work were fired immediately when they become pregnant. Nonetheless, many women also face sexual violence and rape in the places they work.
The new bill will also lessen the discrimination against women in the finance sector. Women will have greater access to finance to curtail their access to credit.
