The Former Governor of Akwa Ibom state, Senator Godswill Akpabio, and Senator Barau Jibrin’s joint ticket have 61 signatures ahead of the next assembly as the race for the Senate presidency heats up
Abdulaziz Yari, a former governor of Zamfara state who is also a candidate, is said to have pushed on to run for the senate presidency of the 10th assembly, which is set to be inaugurated on June 13.
The sources also revealed that one of the front runners, Senator Ali Ndume, was asked by the president-elect to drop his ambition and support the Akpabio/Barau ticket, which he reportedly obliged.
According to a ranking senator who is one of those leading the Akpabio/Barau camp, the 61 senators-elect cuts across party lines, according to a news outlet.
According to Daily trust, Akpabio and Barau are among the nine candidates for the senate presidency of the 10th assembly, which is set to be inaugurated on June 13.
