Polish Prime Minister, Mateusz Morawiecki has disclosed that his country is ready to deliver the German Leopard 2 tanks to Ukraine should Germany fail to agree to the meeting of the defense minister on Friday.
There has been increasing tension between western allies who dissent over the demand made by Ukraine to send her tanks to battle Russia and captured her lost territories back.
Germany has been unwilling to send her tanks to Ukraine over her logjam agreement since the aftermath of the Second World War but said, it would agree should the U.S. also be ready to send over some of its own Abrams tanks which the United States has been reluctant to accede to over her complex logistics support.
With the rising tension, the Polish Prime Minister on Thursday declared that requesting Germany’s consent to deploy her tanks is secondary while arming Ukraine with tanks is the primary objective.
“We will either obtain this consent quickly, or we will do it ourselves,” Moraweicki said.
Other countries waiting for the consent of Germany before deploying her armor tanks to Ukraine include Finland and Lithuania who are on standby to send should today’s meeting yield positive.
