The Labour Party in Edo State said on Friday that Julius Abure, the partyโs national chairman, had been suspended due to allegations of corruption and other violations.
At a news conference held in Abuja to announce Abureโs suspension, representatives from the offended party said that the decision to impose the discipline was made collectively.
But, the partyโs National Working Committee came to the chairmanโs defense by claiming that the sanction was unlawful hours after he was fired.
The statement, headlined โThe Purported Suspension of our National Chairman, Barrister Julius Abure by the Edo chapter of the Labour Party is illegitimate and of no repercussions,โ was signed by LP National Secretary Mallam Farouk Umar and featured the vote of confidence.
