There are now nine ranking House of Representatives members vying for the position of Speaker in the tenth National Assembly.
Notwithstanding the fact that the current Speaker, Femi Gbajabiamila, won re-election for a sixth term and will now serve in the House, this is the case.
The 10th National Assembly is anticipated to be sworn in at the same time as the current assembly, which was sworn in in June 2019.
Abdulraheem Olawuyi, who represents the Ekiti/Isin/Irepodun/Oke-Ero Federal Constituency in Kwara State, will make the most recent statement of interest in the speakership on Tuesday.
According to an announcement on Saturday, Olawuyi is scheduled to formally announce his candidacy for the position on Tuesday in Abuja.
Olawuyi, who chairs the house committee on emergency and disaster preparedness, declared he had held extensive consultations on his decision to run for office and was pleased with the response.
Rep. AbdulRaheem said in a statement titled “Rep AbdulRaheem joins race for Speaker, will officially declare April 4” that he thought he had the necessary experience to improve the Speaker’s office if chosen by his colleagues.
