In order to deliver solar power mini-grids to 150 underserved and unserved electrical locations throughout seven states, the Nigeria federal government has announced intentions to provide subsidies to mini-grid companies.
The Rural Electrification Agency released a statement on Friday with the government’s announcement.
It was mentioned that the private sector would be in charge of the mini-grid rollout.
It stated that the REA’s Project Management Unit recently completed a hybrid pre-bid conference for the Minimum Subsidy Tender program of the solar hybrid mini-grid component.
The African Development Bank is funding the solar hybrid mini-grid element.
A crucial part of the NEP is the Minimum Subsidy Tender program, which aims to stimulate the Nigerian off-grid market and support the mass deployment of solar hybrid mini-grids.
The NEP’s solar hybrid mini-grid component promotes the construction of private sector mini-grids in unserved and underserved regions with significant room for economic development.
