The government’s plan to remap Akwa Ibom State has the support of the state’s traditional rulers, who claim that the initiative is in the best interests of all citizens.
According to our correspondent, there have been pockets of unrest regarding the bill that the state House of Assembly has already enacted into law, sparking youth protests in the local governments of Mbo, Eastern Obolo, and Ibeno.
When answering questions from reporters on Friday, Ntenyin Solomon Etuk, the president general of the Akwa Ibom State Traditional Rulers Council, made this declaration.
He claimed that the state’s traditional institutions supported the state’s mapping and cautioned those who were opposed to the move to avoid taking any steps that would cause unneeded friction in the state.
