The National Population Commission (NPC) leadership has called on the media to increase the level of publicity and public education about the upcoming exercise after claiming that the trial census, a prelude to the national headcount scheduled for March 29 to April 2 this year, saw a low turnout of Nigerians.
This was said yesterday at a one-day capacity-building training for journalists on how to effectively cover the 2023 population and housing census held in Benin, according to the Federal Commissioner, NPC Edo state, Dr. Tony Aiyejina.
He praised President Muhammadu Buhari for allowing the census, saying that it was urgently needed for national planning after the previous exercise was completed in 2006.
