For the state’s House of Assembly election on Saturday, the Police announced that it has sent out all of its officers and men from the Bayelsa State Command.
During the deployment of policemen and other personnel at the state headquarters in Yenagoa on Friday, Mohammed Dankwara, the Bayelsa Commissioner of Police in charge of election security, addressed the media.
In particular, he guaranteed voters that there would be sufficient security before, during, and after the assembly election.
He refuted the notion that there had been a security breach in the state, pointing out that reports of threats to the peace had been fabricated to instill fear and panic among the populace.
He said that the tactical and mobile teams, as well as the full police leadership, had been sent to the state to assist with the elections.
